Rusty came from Texas - Melanie called and said a sad pony was only $400 and we could find a home for him - so I said ok.  4 months later and he almost didn't make it twice - he found his way to Colorado (I guess I'm his home) and he now runs the place!

Birdie was about to ship from Texas and needed a soft landing.  Melanie brought her to Coral Acres Wellness Sanctuary for me and then Jessi brought her to MHR and the next day she went to Tennessee with my daughter Thea and her horses.  She is a sweet girl that bites sometimes...

He is a BLM standard donkey that started out in Arizona, made his way to Colorado in the prison training program and then was adopted out.  We found him outside of Denver and brought him home to be a friend to Pablo.  Through his chip we learned about his past and former owner that loved him, but a divorce caused a new home for him.  He now lives with Thea and Eric in Tennessee

We had Rusty coming our way and there were donkeys that needed a safe landing - introducing Pablo - he made it out of the auction unscathed luckily and is a FAN FAVORITE - he is a funny and mischievous guy - he lives in Tennesse now with Diego and Birdie

This lovely girl came out of Iowa via South Dakota - she was at auction being sold by the pound... she was totally shut down by the time she came to Colorado and would only stare north.  We got some energy work done and her chakras were almost disappeared.  Now she loves everyone and gives them hugs.  She is also a fan favorite and is in sanctuary at MHR

Lily (black) and Ariel (bucksin) came to us from Texas and South Dakota.  They went to Carlee, Wade and granddaughter Paige in Nunn, Co. Lily was a pretty mare that taught Paige how to ride.  We lost Lily in 2025, an Amish road mare that had bad knees - Ariel is spending her time with Daisy now.

Dakota came out of Texas saying he would be a good riding horse with a few wet blankets.  Well I think we determined he may have been a former bucking stock horse.  Luckily for him my sister Lisa got him healthy and saw how high he bucked with just a saddle on.  He found his foerver home with Lynda who takes amazing care of him.  He lives with Spirit in Arvada, who my sister rescued at CLA

I took on Old Bones from Hannah as a foster until he could find an amazing place in the mountains to live.  He was sweet but wow if you left any gate open he would go charging out of it full speed - how such an old horse ran so fast was beyond me.  He also loved to roll - back and forth like 15 times before he decided he was done and would hop right up.  Glad we could help him a while.

Smokey was my heart rescue horse.  He was headed to auction here in Colorado at a barn we were at and we just could not let that happen.  He was the sweetest, onery old guy who taught a lot of Westernaires to ride.  Rumor has it he was sold with the house and the new owners eventually decided they weren't horse people.  Then he became a husband horse - then my heart horse.  He stuck around specifically to teach Thea and I a few things about presence before we set him free in 2021

Oreo - or so we called him was not well on a kill pen lot in Texas.  Melanie called and we knew we  had to act fast. She got him to quarantine and he passed away 24 hours later.  While we didn't get to meet him, we loved him in spirit.  Sometimes rescuing  takes a toll.  I had a place ready for him in at MHR in Colorado...

Hope is a thoroughbred mare that found herself at  auction.  She was not ggetting much attention except from kill buyers.  We bought her and quarantined her in Texas than brought her to the best home ever! at Happiness Through Horses with Kim.  She is helping kids, being a mare and doing her thing at her forever home!

Pistol was at a barn in Arvada with Romeo.  He was silly and sweet but always came up lame.  He had a habit of running his head along the fence line and pacing and also lifting his head while eating.  His young owner wanted to do barrel racing, he was not up for it.  So we talked her out of taking him to auction and found a forever home for him as a companion thanks to Kim at HTH!
